Mackey, who is relishing her inclusion on stage at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway, took over Alli Mauzey’s part in a role first championed by Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth. Among other actors coming and going are Rondi Reed as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard and Dee Roscioli who will play the main part of Elphaba. There are constant changes occurring around this monster show, as new blood is brought in and existing actors leave to play in other Broadway shows. The story is timeless: Erin Mackey’s Glinda will meet Elphaba at Shiz University, where they plan to graduate as sorcery majors, but a series of misunderstandings leads to all kinds of upsets and competition for a common love interest. The two witches’ epic journey from Shiz University to the Emerald City is breaking box office records and winning hearts around the world.

Wicked, whose book was the brainchild of Winnie Holzman, with a brilliant musical score from Stephen Schwartz, is directed by Joe Mantello. Several world-class backstage teams work to make Wicked the stunning production that it is, including costume design by Susan Hilferty and Eugene Lee’s scenic arrangements. Lighting design is by Kenneth Posner, and sound is provided by Tony Meola. The score is truly fantastic, and William David Brohn directs orchestrations while James Lynn Abbott takes care of the dance arrangements.
